FilmLog — Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

FilmLog · Last updated: July 10, 2026

FilmLog ("the app") is a film-photography logbook. Your privacy matters, and the app is built to keep your data on your own device. This policy explains what that means.

The short version

FilmLog does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app has no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. Everything you create stays on your device. The only time the app contacts the internet is to check whether a newer version of FilmLog is available (see below) — and even then, none of your data is sent.

Data you create

Your rolls, frames, journal entries, sessions, gear, film stock, folders, photos, and any notes are stored locally on your device. This information is never sent to us or to anyone else. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it (subject to your device backups, which you control).

Permissions the app may request

The app only asks for a permission when you use a feature that needs it, and the data stays on your device:

You can change or revoke any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Checking for updates

To let you know when a newer version of FilmLog is available, the app occasionally makes a single request to Apple's public App Store lookup service. This request contains only the app's identifier — it does not include any of your personal data, rolls, photos, location, or other content. The response is used only to compare version numbers and show an optional "update available" notice inside the app. No personal information leaves your device as part of this check.

No analytics or tracking

FilmLog contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking technologies. Apart from the update check described above, the app does not connect to the internet, and it never transmits your information anywhere.

Children

FilmLog does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
